What does a celebrant do?
Funeral celebrants work closely with grieving families to create ceremonies that reflect the life, values, and personality of the deceased. They help design a service that is both a respectful farewell and a celebration of the individual’s unique journey.
A significant part of the celebrant’s role involves empathetic listening. They meet with families to learn about the deceased, their life story, and the aspects that should be highlighted during the ceremony. Funeral celebrants write and deliver tributes or eulogies that capture the essence of the person who has passed away. These tributes may include anecdotes, stories, and reflections that resonate with the attendees and contribute to a deeper understanding of the individual.
Celebrants assist in organising the funeral ceremony, ensuring that all elements flow seamlessly. This includes coordinating with other service providers, such as Funeral Directors, musicians, speakers, or religious leaders, and manage the overall timing and pacing of the event. Funeral celebrants often work with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, religions, and belief systems. They are skilled in navigating and incorporating diverse customs and traditions into the ceremony, ensuring inclusivity and respect for the deceased’s wishes.
Recognising the emotional challenges faced by grieving families, celebrants offer support and guidance throughout the funeral planning process. They aim to create a safe and comforting space for mourners to express their emotions and find closure.
In essence, the role of a funeral celebrant is to serve as a compassionate guide, helping families navigate the complexities of grief while honouring the life and legacy of their loved one through a thoughtful and personalized ceremony.

Services
Funeral Celebrancy
It is essential that you and your family have the service that is right for you and I like to work closely with the family and friends of the deceased to create a unique ceremony that is meaningful and compassionate.
The process will begin with a face-to-face meeting where you can tell me all about the person you want to commemorate. I actively encourage your contributions of music, poetry and memories that paint a unique picture of the person that has died.
I work with you and the funeral director, where relevant, to create a service personalised to your needs.

Eulogy Writing
It may be that the funeral is already planned but you may have been called upon to pay a tribute to your loved one with a speech or eulogy. This can be incredibly daunting especially if you are in the early stages of bereavement. If this is the case, I can help you find the right words to commemorate the one you love, offering eulogy, poetry and tribute writing.
We will spend some time discussing the person that has died so I can get a good idea of who they were. You will share memories and stories that help me create a personal tribute that you feel confident and comfortable delivering as your own.
